Setting up a company in Romania
In Romania both property purchase and the commercial activity route to residence usually run through a Romanian company.
SRL and SA
The SRL is the equivalent of a limited liability company and is the natural choice for most investors. The SA is a joint-stock company; it suits larger structures, carries higher thresholds and gives a stronger position at renewal.
Why buying through a company is practical
Funds are transferred from abroad into the company account and the purchase is made in the company's name. This keeps the transfer orderly and makes it easier later to relate the investment to the business plan.
The cost items
Incorporation and notarial formalities, accounting, a registered address, and where required a business plan with a technical opinion. All of these are handled by qualified professionals in Romania; DL.TURC takes on the coordination.
One thing to watch
The assumption that "I bought a plot worth €100,000, so I have met the investment condition" is not automatically correct. How an investment counts has to be structured file by file.
Frequently asked
