Property alone is not enough

Owning property in Romania does not by itself grant a residence permit. Property can form part of the investment structure that is set up, but ownership on its own is not a ground for residence.

The commercial activity route

Certain commercial activity and investment structures can form a route towards a residence application where the required conditions are met. Under the D/AC commercial activity category, the company structure, the investment, the business plan, employment and the other legal conditions are assessed together.

How the process runs

• A company is established in Romania.
• A business plan is prepared and the required technical opinion is obtained.
• The visa application is made, and the residence permit application follows.
• The investment and employment commitments set out in the business plan are met.
• Renewals are followed through.
